Our Objectives

  1. To represent, protect and assist the engineers as regards conditions of practice advancement and otherwise

  2. To present generally the views of engineers and to sustain and preserve their rights and status

  3. To engage in formal or informal activities designed to foster and extend the study of engineering and for the benefit both of members of the MIE or of other persons interested in the profession

  4. To maintain a register of engineers who are deemed by the MIE to be qualified to practice the profession of engineering

  5. To set and hold, from time to time, qualifying examinations for admission to the engineering profession in Malawi

  6. To provide a liaison between the Board of Engineers established under the Engineers Act (Cap 53:03) of the Laws of Malawi and the engineers registered with the MIE

  7. To protect and assist the public of Malawi on all matters touching, ancillary or incidental to the engineering profession

  8. To acquire, hold, develop or dispose of properties of all kinds whether moveable or immovable and to derive capital or income wherefrom for all or any of the foregoing objectives

  9. To raise or borrow money for all or any of the foregoing objectives in such a manner and upon such security as may from time to time be determined by the institution

  10. To invest and deal with the income of the MIE not immediately required in such a manner as may be determined by the MIE council

  11. To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the foregoing objectives of the MIE or any of them
